7/7 - Fargo,ND to Kathryn,ND - 57 miles
Skylar posted a tweet about Kathryn "as of the 2010 census, Kathryn, ND has a population of 52 people and a median age of 59.7'
This town was gonna be small, even by our standards!
Leaving Fargo was tough.
Despite the brutal heat (think : giant dog panting on you while you walk around or ride your bike), I would have loved another rest day there. We were headed to Kathryn that morning - spelled just like my middle name. Although it was a short day...only 57 miles...the headwinds were relentless! The way I can describe the resistance is just like pedaling under water...without the benefit of the cool water! There were times I felt as if I was being pushed backwards. This was a day for mental toughness for sure!
Rest stops were fun that day...even encountered a stylin kool aid stand...
Kathryn was 4 miles off route and we stayed at the town community center that night. Also, there was a bar within walking distance so we snacked while the soccer fans watched the World Cup.
