Flat Out

7/14 -  Wolf Point, MT to Glasgow, MT - 55 miles

When we started the day, my flat tire total was 3....

It was a short day for us, so we rolled along at a comfortable pace after stopping for a leisurely breakfast.

As we pace-lined to Glasgow taking pictures and video along the way...we flew over some railroad tracks and 5 of us got flats.  I got the rare double-flat.  So we patched both tires and continued on.  About 3 miles later, my front tire started hissing and was flat again.  So Skylar patched it again and then we headed on...and then in another 5 miles...yup, front tire again! (If you re keeping track, that brings me to 4 on the day and 7 total).  So we pulled a new tube and reassembled the tire and after about 10 miles, it held and I got distracted by ice cream so I peeled off for a break which included huckleberry ice cream and endless wi-fi to myself.

After two hours, I came out and both tires were flat again. (Day count = 6, overall count = 9).  I was out of tubes and patches at this point, so Skylar drove out in the van and we replaced one defective tire and both tubes.

I rolled into camp in time for Caroline to by everyone pizza since Germany won the World Cup... I had become the record-holder for flats in a day and was flirting with the lead for total flats on the trip...
