Cyclists of the Corn

6.18 - Denver, IN - 80

The ride to Denver through the corn fields and farms of Indiana was HOT!  I will see who has a picture of our group huddled in the 5 feet of shade offered by the grain silo at the side of the road.  Later in the day, we were caught in a storm and 7 of us sheltered in someone's barn waiting for the lightning to pass.

Once the rain subsided, the ride was lovely - so cool as we hauled to the church where we stayed in Denver that night - Pastor Tim and his wife Michelle hosted us at their community center.

I can tell that I am feeling stronger as I could actually play a few games of knock out on the indoor basketball court after our 80 mile ride!  We were treated to food and showers and they even did our laundry that evening - we were so spoiled!

6.19 - Iroquis, ILLINOIS - 94

Despite the mileage, this was one of the easiest days we have had - no headwinds, relatively cool, and I caught up on some podcasts.

Along the way..there was corn..and farm houses...and corn...

One house advertised water for cyclists.....

We stayed at a town park and 5 of us were lucky enough to stay in the air conditioned office of the park supervisor.  Ryan (one of our leaders) was joined by his dad for a day of riding.

Drew and Steph (our resident cute couple from VA) chilled in a hammock.
