Middlebury to Newcombe was an interesting day. 65 miles in total.
The first part of the morning was lovely as we rolled up to the ferry to cross into NY. It was a barge actually...we a loaded up for the short ride across to Ticonderoga.
Before the day began, I was comforted in knowing that none of our maps would have elevation profile until we reached NY. Fun fact : the Adirondacks are mountains too. Lots of slow grinders throughout the day... As an extra incentive not to stop along the way it is black fly season in NY and the bugs are plentiful and nasty. At each rest stop, I took time to clean the little suckers of my face and neck. Sadly the number that perished and the number I ate while riding are not are not as different as you might think!
